Urine Infection Pregnancy
Urinary tract infection (UTI) is caused due to urine which has bacteria in it. Urinary tract infection is common during pregnancy. This infection results in burning sensation while you pee.
Causes of UTI:
In case of pregnancy, level of progesterone shoots up, this results in relaxing of urinary tract and bladder. So, urine remains in system of body for a quite long time.
Uterus of pregnant lady is perfect breeding ground for bacteria to survive.
In the later part of pregnancy chances of developing UTI as growing uterus puts pressure on urinary bladder and urinary tract. As result, urine is impeded.
Symptoms Of UTI:
- Pain while urine.
- Urine passes out frequently.
- Pain in lower abdomen.
- Blood in urine.
- Fever /high temperature
- Nausea
- Vomiting and/or diarrhea
Steps to avoid UTI:
- Increase fluid intake. Especially that of water. At least 8 ounce of water in a day is compulsory at time when you are pregnant.
- Cranberry juice is essential as it has preventive properties to prevent bacterial growth.
- Make sure that your empty your bladder at frequent intervals. Do not wait for last moment to empty it up.
- Wipe yourself at back and front properly so that no infection can reach upto your urethra.
- Keep your genital organs clean in order to avoid any kind of infection.
- Avoid use of scent or scent powders on or near your genital organs. This will create irritation in that area.
- Avoid intake of fizzy drinks and beverages as they contain caffeine which can provoke bacterial growth. Chances increase if you are prone to disease.
