Pregnancy Migraine
Migraines during pregnancy periods are very common. Most of the ladies bearing child face this problem. The exact reason for this is not yet known but it can be due to the changes evolved in the path ways of the nerves, blood flow in the brain, and neurochemicals.
Few researches believe that cells of the brain releases some chemicals which stimulate the vessels of the brain which result in their swelling and pain in response. The hormone of estrogen can also be one of the reasons for migraine pain too.
How To Treat Severe Migraines During Pregnancy:
The treatment of severe migraine during pregnancy includes:
Some pain relievers which do not harm pregnancy can be taken. Such as Acetaminophen, ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, naproxen can be few of them. These do not stimulate bleeding during pregnancy period.
Ergotamine can work specifically for migraines but they could stimulate labor pain and result in premature birth of baby.
Triptans are also beneficial for migraine but they are known to have birth defects. So they must be avoided.
Preventive Migraine Treatment During Pregnancy:
Migraines must be handled carefully during pregnancy. Safe medications like propanolol, antelonol, labetalol are safe for treating migraines during pregnancy.
But, as soon you have the headache make sure you consult a migraine specialist and cross check with your gyne so that your do not run the risk to your baby, in case you take wrong medications it might cause life long health cause to your baby which will be very injurious.
