Nausea Pregnancy

In first half of pregnancy ‘nausea’ and vomiting are most common. Nausea is normally present for first trimmer of pregnancy only. In the second it is generally not there. When the pregnancy begins nausea and vomiting are normal symptoms but they must be handled carefully as they can even lead to miscarriage.

Causes
Major cause for ‘nausea’ is not yet known but some possible ones are:

  • Hormonal changes
  • Emotional factors like stress
  • Rapid stretching of uterine muscles
  • Swings in blood sugar
  • Not taking proper nutrition
  • Eating at frequent intervals is important otherwise nausea worsens
  • Women prone to diabetes or already suffering from it should be more careful

Ways To Minimize Nausea In Pregnant Women:
Few ways to minimize nausea in pregnant ladies are:

  • Keep blood sugar in control
  • Have frequent meals rich in protein and carbohydrates.
  • Try to have little snack before coming out of bed; this will help in maintaining blood sugar level.
  • Intake of fluids in abundance is essential.
  • Prenatal Vitamins are very helpful in curing this problem; intake of few extra vitamin B-6 could also help when necessary.
  • Ginger is very effective in curing nausea; a small of ginger in food can make difference in acute suffering.
  • Wearing sea bands on hand will put pressure on inner wrist which helps in curing nausea.
