Linea Nigra

Linea nigra is the latin word used for the black line. So, Linea nigra is the dark lines which emerges on the abdomen during the pregnancy period. This dark line is mostly appears in between the belly button and the public area.

This streak of brownish color is usually one centimeter wide. This line runs vertically along the midline right from the pubis upto the xephoid process.

Causes Of Linea Nigra:
The causes of linea nigra can be summarized in the following points:

  • This pigmentation takes place due to the decrease in melanin pigment. The decrease in melanin can be due to increased levels of estrogen in the body.
  • This disease can also be a result of any kind of hormanal changes too.

How To Get Rid Of Linea Nigra:

Linea nigra takes takes time in going away completly once pregnancy is over. Use sunscreens, anti pigmentation creams over the affected. This will help in fading them soon. As they have taken 9 months to acqire their original shape. So, it is sure that in fading off also they will take time.

So, have patience and protect them from sweat, heat and sunlight as these can make them worse.Slowly and steadily they will fade away.

What To Do Inorder To Avoid Linea Nigra From Reappearing:
If you want that linea nigra must not reoccur againthre are few points which can be remembered:

  • After the dilevery make sure you sit tightly. The line will automatically fade away with the time.
  • Use sun blocks to prevent the marks from intensifying.
  • Some views are there that this skin discoloration can be due to the deficiency of the folic acid. So, make sure that you have the green vegetables, oranges, whole wheat, cereals and wheat in good quantity.
