Women suffering from this syndrome have very low chances, less than 18 percent, of carrying a pregnancy to full term as the immune system can also attack the placenta.

  • Ectopic Pregnancy:

    A normal pregnancy occurs when the egg settles in the uterus. In ectopic pregnancy, the egg settles outside of the uterus, usually in the fallopian tubes. Some of the initial signs are vaginal bleeding and pain, often accompanied by dizziness. If you have vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy you should contact your gynecologist to rule out an ectopic pregnancy.

  • Blighted Ovum:

    This occurs when the fertilized egg attaches to the uterine wall, but the development of the embryo does not take place.

Many people believe that if you suffer from a serious medical problem or if you are overweight then you are at a greater risk of suffering from a miscarriage. This can be true in some cases, but the sad truth is that plenty of women who are healthy and young go through the pain of miscarriage without any apparent cause.

Most miscarriages are the result of chromosomal abnormalities and there is not much that can be done to prevent them. One step that you can take is to get as healthy as you can before you conceive to provide a healthy environment for the process of conception to occur. Here are some of the ways to prevent miscarriage:

  • Take folic acid regularly.
  • Keep weight within healthy limits.
  • Manage stress.
  • Eat healthily and exercise regularly.

Once you know that you are pregnant, then your main aim should be to keep yourself healthy and provide a healthy environment for the baby to grow in:

  • Avoid alcohol.
  • Keep your abdomen safe.
  • Do not smoke and avoid being exposed to second hand smoke.
  • Check with your doctor before taking any over-the counter-medicines.
  • Eliminate or limit your intake of coffee.
  • Avoid environmental hazards like infectious diseases, x-rays, and radiation.
  • Avoid activities or contact sports where you risk injury to yourself.
