Another important thing is caffeine is a diuretic, which means it causes frequent urination. This results in reducing the fluid levels in the body, which in turn can cause dehydration.

You may be able to handle the caffeine that you feed your body, but your baby cannot. The baby’s metabolism is still developing and is not matured. Caffeine causes infertility.

Fact:

There are studies that state that high levels of caffeine intake can result in delayed conception. So, doctors usually tell women to cut down on caffeine if they suffer from infertility.

Caffeine causes miscarriages.

Fact:

If a woman consumes more than 300 mg of caffeine a day, then there is an increased risk of a miscarriage. Some of the other problems are low birth weight and pre-term labor. Hence, it is best to avoid caffeine completely during pregnancy.

What is the Proper Amount of Caffeine to be Consumed?

If you avoid it completely, then that is the best thing, but if you cannot, then drink moderate amounts, like 150 mg per day. Any amount more than 150 mg is too much. You can always talk to your doctor regarding the ways to quit because your doctor is the best person to help you to make the healthiest choices for you and your baby.
