Exhaustion During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a wonderful time, and a very challenging time in a women’s life. This is a great responsibility when a baby is developing withinyou. Although a woman is very happy, this can bring a lot of exhaustion and feelings of great tiredness. Overwhelming fatigue is a problem that occurs during the first trimester. Nausea, dizziness and exhaustion are normal during the beginning of pregnancy and isnot a serious issue, but if exhaustion is continuous, and increases as the days pass, thenthis may be due to other underlying disorders.

Causes of Exhaustion During Pregnancy

  • Pregnancy is a medical condition which affects women differently. There are other responsibilities that a woman deals with on a daily basis such as family, business, and household chores.
  • Hormonal change is another factor for nausea and dizziness.
  • When the body prepares to implant the embryo, during this time you may also experience fatigue.
  • Changes in estrogen and progesterone levels also cause these symptoms.
  • When all these changes occur, this affects the overall body’s metabolism.
  • When the body’s metabolism gets affected,then a woman experiences fatigue and a lack of energy which leads to severe exhaustion.

Exhaustion reduces as the woman enters into her second trimester and gets used to hormonal changes and the changes that occur to the baby in the womb. Tiredness sweeps away and energy levels rise, but again in the third trimester, exhaustion isexperienced by women. This is because of the rapidly growing uterus and the growing baby. This phase is quite strenuous as her body prepares for labor. These symptoms continue till the baby is born.

If exhaustion continues even after a woman enters into her second trimester, then it is not socommon a thing to deal with. Consult your doctor as this may because of depression, stress, insomnia or a vitamin deficiency. It can also be due to thyroid disease, anemia, diabetes, chronic fatigue syndrome and low blood pressure. Talk to your doctor immediately if exhaustion persists, as early diagnosis can improve the health of the woman and get rid of exhaustion.

How to Ease Exhaustion

Certain lifestyle changes can reduce exhaustion. They include:

  • Try to modify your daily routine, especially if it requires too much of doing anything in a 24-hour period.
  • Get adequate sleep and follow a proper diet.
  • Take naps in between and consume lots of water and juices.
  • Regular and mild exercises can be done to keepyourself active and healthy.
  • Try to cut down the hectic working hours and lifestyles.
  • Unwanted commitments that can involve energy can cause extreme fatigue, when you are pregnant.
  • Never do heavy household work, and  get extra help when the work load is too heavy.
  • Sleep in a comfortable position and use extra pillows as this can relax your body.
  • If you are suffering from severe exhaustion, then do not delay to visit to your doctor.
  • Try to be open and speak out about all the discomforts that you face.
  • Take proper medication as this is the only way to fight exhaustion.
  • Try to lead a life that is free from stress, addictions and depression.

Fighting exhaustion is not easy to do during pregnancy, though it makes you feel low at times. The most precious moment in a women’s life is when she is pregnant, so enjoy every moment with lots of joy.
