What are Stretch Marks?

Stretch marks are nothing but the outcome of stretching the skin beyond its elasticity limit within a short period of time. This occurs in men and women but is found in all pregnant women. These are characterized by the appearance of red streaks throughout the skin. It occurs when the deeper layers of skin undergo changes in the body due to sudden weight gain, pregnancy or muscle building. This causes the skin to tear and leads to scars and stretch marks. These marks appear on the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs and breasts.
