When the baby in the womb starts growing, it results in intense pressure on the sciatic nerve. This condition is known as sciatic nerve pain. Many women experience this type of pain during pregnancy. The other name for sciatic nerve pain is sciatica. The nerve becomes agitated and leads to severe pain when the developing embryo exerts excessive pressure on the sciatic nerve.   • Taking warm bath can help provide temporary relief from nerve pain.

  • Prenatal yoga also helps in reducing sciatic nerve pain. It does not remove the pain completely but reduces the inflammation and provides relief.

Consult a doctor immediately if you are experiencing severe sciatic nerve pain during pregnancy. Sciatic pain decreases and vanishes after childbirth. However, there are some women who experience this pain even after childbirth.
