If you want to have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby then you need to eat well and be happy. You need to be physically and mentally active and this will help you to be comfortable throughout the 9 months. Let us share some tips for a healthy pregnancy.

Tips for a healthy Pregnancy:

  • Firstly, discuss with your doctor how much weight you should comfortably gain during your pregnancy.
  • Eat foods that are rich in calcium, iron and protein.
  • Ask for vitamins in the form of prenatal supplements.
  • Always keep your doctor informed about any prenatal supplements that you buy over-the-counter.
  • Do not skip breakfast! Even if you have morning sickness, nibble dry toast or biscuits until the nausea passes then have light meals throughout the day.
  • Drink lots of water and fruit juices.
  • Fiber rich diet should be taken to ease the passing of stools and avoid the developing of hemorrhoids.
  • Do not smoke .
  • Do not drink alcohol.
  • Do not use scented feminine hygiene products if you are allergic to them.
  • Handle and cook food in a hygienic manner.
  • Mild to moderate activity can be done for a duration of 30 minutes but always ask your doctor before you start and always stop if you begin to feel fatigue.
  • Mild exercises can be done after consulting your doctor.
  • After the delivery, ask the hospital about post-natal exercises and slowly get back to your daily routine.
  • Savor the miracles of pregnancy and child birth.

Healthy Eating:

A healthy eating plan offers a wide variety of foods including fruits, cereals and vegetables. Try to eat the following foods:

  • 6 or more servings of cereal, rice, bread or pasta.
  • 3-5 servings of vegetables.
  • 2-4 servings of fruits.
  • 2 servings of milk, cheese or yogurt.
  • Choose low fat or fat free foods.
  • 2-3 servings of fish, dry beans, meat, poultry, nuts or eggs.
  • Drink 8 glasses of water per day.
  • Drink fresh juices, milk and non-alcoholic beverages.
