Weight gain after the birth of your baby is common in nearly all women. Actually, after your delivery you might notice swelling on your face, hands and ankles. This might be due to the pregnancy weight gain. During the labor period, several pounds of fluid retention replace the amniotic fluid and placenta in your body. In order to lose the excess weight, which you gained during your pregnancy, there are few tips which can be followed.

  • Avoid eating large meals in one go. Take small meals at frequent intervals. It would be better to keep a few healthy snacks handy. Foods items like raisins, nuts, popcorn, or wheat crackers will help in satisfying your hunger and will also help in reducing your fat. Avoid junk food as much as possible.
  • If you are not a vegetarian, go for lean meat. This means boneless chicken and pieces of meat cut in thin slices. These kinds of pieces will not carry fat and will be healthy too.
  • Excess of water will also help in getting rid of excess of fat. So it advisable to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water daily. This helps flush out the fat in liquid form through urine and perspiration.
  • Intake of whole grain foods is advisable. Such foods carry fewer calories and are beneficial for health.
  • Apart from eating a healthy diet, a regular work out is also very important. Regular exercise will help you get rid of your excess fat very easily.
  • Breastfeeding is also a good means of losing your fat. It is because breastfeeding burns nearly 1500 calories in your body daily. So, the longer you feed your baby with breast milk, the more fat you will lose.
