Childbirth Complications

Every parent dreams that the birth of their child should be free from complications. But, despite a normal pregnancy, some women face complications during labor and childbirth. There are many complications which occur suddenly. Information regarding situations like breech position, episiotomy, premature labor are discussed below.

Types of Childbirth Complications:

  • Breech Birth: It is the condition in which the legs of the baby are flexed at the hips or when one or both the knees are flexed or not extended. This condition is caused by:
    • Giving birth to multiples
    • Low amniotic fluid
    • Abnormal uterus shape
    • Baby’s diagnosis of hydrocephalus
    • Placenta previa
  • Preterm labor or premature birth: Preterm labor sometimes results in ¬†premature birth. Preterm labor is the labor pain or the contraction which makes the cervix to dilate and thin out before the pregnancy reaches full term. There are several risks which are attached with the preterm labor. Some of these risks include:
    • Kidney infections
    • Vaginal infections, urinary tract infections, and ¬†sexually transmitted diseases
    • Vaginal bleeding after 20 weeks of pregnancy
    • A fever accompanied by infection
    • Drastic increase or decrease of weight
    • Diagnosis of high blood pressure, kidney disease, clotting disorder or diabetes
