How To Know I Am Pregnant

Craving being a mother? Don’t know whether you are pregnant or not?  Don’t worry! We are here to help you out. Here are the basic symptoms and tips that will tell you whether you are expecting or not.

Missed Period
When you have missed your period, there is a good chance that you have conceived. This is an age old sign. But there are some women who bleed lightly at the beginning of their menstrual cycle. It so happens that throughout their pregnancy period the menstrual cycle goes on.  This is a rare instance although it can not be altogether denied.

Pregnancy Tests
You need to check the level of HCG (the hormone secreted at the time of pregnancy) to know whether you are pregnant or not. The report being negative is very rare. If a report comes negative and later on positive it might be because the test was done too early or incorrectly.  When an initial positive report later on reveals that you are not pregnant, it may be because of an early miscarriage. For pregnancy test you can always go to your gynecologist.

Morning sickness
The inception of pregnancy is sometimes accompanied by a nauseating feeling in the mornings.  This is feature not found in all women.  Some women may experience an evening sickness; others may feel sick all throughout the day. Hyperemesis gravid arum, a serious situation involving vomiting, can lead to dehydration and a critical state. It has to be checked on by a doctor.

Breast Soreness
The soreness of breasts can be considered a sign of pregnancy.  The soreness generally fades away by the second trimester of pregnancy.

Vaginal Discharge
Vaginal discharge is another sign of pregnancy. To protect the baby the cervix obstructs foreign materials from entering the body. The result is an increase in the volume of discharge.  No sign of itchiness, dryness, or any other disturbance is found, but mild vaginal secretions can be noticed.

Fatigue/Constipation
The hormone secreted during pregnancy is called progesterone. Fatigue occurs due to the high level of the secretion of this hormone.  This can be considered as an early sign of carrying.

There may be a marked change in your bowel movements during pregnancy. They could get more relaxed.  At the same time you may visit the bathroom frequently for urinating.  This is because of a particular pregnancy hormone called Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) that stimulates urination.

Headaches
Headaches occur due to alterations in the hormones.  Headaches alone simply cannot be considered a sign of a confirmed pregnancy because there may be other reasons causing the headaches, too.

Bloated / Fatigue
Women experiencing bloating cannot always be confirmed to be pregnant because some women feel bloated even before their menstrual cycle or for other reasons..

Darkened Areolas
During pregnancy the area around the nipple grows darker. There is also an increase in the number of veins in the breasts and the tiny nubs around the areolas. All these changes prove that you are going to be a mother soon.
